Its such a nice weather outside, lets go for a walk by the river side – Anki

I have got bored walking, its slow. I think I need to get a bike now… go faster and feel the wind on my face!  – Me

And that’s when I decided to buy a bike. Several Youtube videos, local bike shop visits and even visits to Walmart and Target. Finally, folks at a local bike store called Grove Street Bicycles,  helped me select my biky – a Giant ARX – which I absolutely loved! I was fortunate to meet Rob and Ed at the store who were not only very knowledgeable, but also extremely forthcoming in offering guidance towards making my choice. I was even suggested an amazing color to buy, something I am so glad I followed! Most importantly they helped me select a bike which I would practically be able to ride and enjoy.

It’s more than an year now and over the period I have realized that this purchase was one of the best I have ever done! It’s brought me experiences which I would never have otherwise had. So here I am sharing some of my most favorite ones – ones I believe you could have  – ONLY ON A BIKE!

Live the views

Only on a bike can you not just see the views, but get to be part of them. You get to leave the road and take the path less traveled and explore the hidden treasures on your own. Since I started biking, I have got an opportunity to explore areas near my place which were either too unreachable from car or too far to walk.

Feel the wind

Only on a bike you go can go slow enough to enjoy the surroundings but fast enough to feel the wind all over! Climb a steep hill at 5 Miles an hour hot and soaked… and then be rewarded by cool wind while descending at 35 Miles an hour… rejuvenating all your senses all at once!

Bag new physical & mental accomplishments

Since I have starting bicycling, I have been able to ride on top of local hills I would have never imagined I could. I have been regularly riding distances I did not think I ever would – best one being a 50+ km ride for about 3+ hours! With each of these physical achievements, I am pushing ahead my subconscious mental limits and digging deeper into my stamina every day.

Relish the fitness and the looks of it

With every physical endeavor, I am getting rewarded with improved fitness levels. This for me means fitting into clothes I have desired for so long. I am buying so many fitted clothes and am loving every bit of the experience. I have also been introduced to the world of functional yet fashionable clothing – many of which we would be featuring in our upcoming stories.

Enjoy the savings

Like every indulgence, cycling comes at a cost, and a significant one for me. However, with cycling its also possible to accrue additional savings. For example I commute to office every-day on a bicycle. This saves me a return Light Rail train ticket every day. It also enables me to make trips to a better and cheaper grocery store, which was bit too far for me earlier on.

And most importantly…

And finally… the most important reason… the fun factor! The joy and excitement which comes with cycling is hard to put in words – its a feeling best understood through first hand experience.

So give it a try if you haven’t already. Really… I have never even seen a sad bicyclist – EVER!

Cheers!!
